The answer to this question is bioavailability, but let’s dive deeper into what that means:
Bioavailability refers to the rate and the degree to which a substance is absorbed into the body. Sublingual (under the tongue) absorption generally has high bioavailability, whereas absorption through the digestive system generally has lower bioavailability.
When CBD is swallowed, it comes into contact with digestive enzymes that are meant to break it down. However, we can increase bioavailability (absorption of CBD into your bloodstream) of swallowed CBD through the digestive system by protecting that CBD with a gel casing, like with our Daily Softgels. The oil inside the Daily Softgels is the same CBD as the Daily Drops, but the gel casing keeps the oil from absorbing for 1-3 hours, generally until it reaches the stomach, where it can best absorb.
Another way to increase CBD's absorption into your body is by taking the CBD alongside a healthy fat, like avocado, almonds, or even cheese.
Since the Daily Drops do not have a protective casing, you will achieve the highest bioavailability when the Drops absorb under the tongue, allowing that CBD to bypass the digestive process and go directly into the bloodstream.
Should you decide to swallow the Daily Drops rather than letting them sit and absorb under the tongue, we recommend mixing your Drops into a healthy fat such as nut or seed butter, and swallowing the two mixed together. The Daily Drops could also be mixed into a protein shake or smoothie that contains a healthy fat as well!
